Fun · Brand Page · Iteration 1
Geist Pixel states it. Geist Mono reports it. Source Serif 4 reads it back at length. This page is the one place all three, plus the marks and the palette, are shown together — governed by BRAND_SHEET_01, Decisions 1–4 and 9–10.
The type hierarchy — audited
Every role in the system, in order, as it is actually implemented in assets/css/fun.css today — not as drafted, as shipped.
What changed 2026-09-11: the Body row was Geist (Sans) 400. Decision 9
moves running body copy — p and .lede — to Source Serif 4, everywhere
fun.css is the template: this page, index.html, index-gary.html,
fun-is-the-product.html, optomizer.html. Nothing else in the hierarchy
moved — the wordmark is still Geist Pixel, labels still name in FUN RED, the instrument still
reports in Geist Mono, and Helvetica Neue Bold still never leaves the packaging.
Reading Source Serif 4
This paragraph is set in Source Serif 4, the new body face.
Geist Pixel is the brand speaking as itself — the wordmark, the headline, the label that names a decision. Geist Mono is the instrument reading a number back. Source Serif 4 is the third voice: longer paragraphs, read at a normal sentence-by-sentence pace, where a pixel letterform would start to work against the reader instead of for the brand. It carries the same weight range as the rest of the system — Regular for running text, a Semibold for the words that need to land harder inline, and a true italic instead of a slanted fake for the words that need to lean.
Fourteen cells, thirty-seven cells, five typefaces, one grid: the system holds when the numbers stack — 1962, 2030, 0.8mm, 3.0mm, #DA291C.
Fallback stack: "Source Serif 4", Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif
— if the Google Fonts request ever fails to load, the page still reads as a serif, not as the
browser default sans.
The marks
One geometry, cut on the same grid, at the same 8px module — so any two marks in this family sit at true relative scale next to each other.
5×7 grid · 14 cells · locked
The clasp, the die, the mold family — Decision 3. Trade-dress mark, legal clock started 2026-09-09.
9×7 grid · 33 cells · pending sign-off
Draft 2, drawn 2026-09-11 to the same discipline as the F — stepped terraces, no curves, no face. (Draft 1 put the flare mid-shape and read as a cross; this one puts the brim at the top and steps down once.) What it marks and where it's used: open call, Decision 10. Exploration prompt in PROMPT_Mushroom_Icon_2026-09-11.md.
Not yet locked. The F went through eight decisions and a sign-off section before it shipped. The mushroom hasn't — it's a first draft, on file for a look, not yet an asset the site or the mold family should use.
F + mushroom · same 7-row baseline · 16px gap
Both marks share the 56px / 7-row height already, so this is a lockup, not a redraw — for where the full wordmark doesn't fit: favicon, app icon, a small stamp. Inherits the mushroom's pending status.
The palette — Decision 4
One FUN-RED accent per object — the thing that opens, or the wordmark. Never both. The spectrum is refracted light falling on cardboard: never a flat fill, never a gradient background.
